APPG on Critical Minerals: A Useful Discussion at the Right Time

At this week’s APPG on Critical Minerals in Parliament, Alba Mineral Resources plc was represented by George Frangeskides, Executive Chairman, and Dr Curtis Rooks, Principal Geologist, who is shown in the foreground.

The discussion focused on some of the key themes shaping the sector globally: geopolitical risk, Chinese dominance, the G7 response, China’s new Five-Year Plan, and where the UK fits into the wider critical minerals picture.

That broader context matters. Critical minerals are not just a geological story. They sit at the centre of industrial policy, supply chain resilience, processing strategy and long-term economic security.

It is good to see more attention being given to how the UK can position itself in this space, and to the role that responsible exploration and allied supply chains may play in that.
